Bozoma Saint John Named Uber’s Chief Branding Officer
A black girl magic maker made another big move this week.
Bozoma Saint John, the former head of global consumer marketing for Apple Music who stole the show at Apple’s 2016 streaming service presentation, recently announced that she’d left the company.
Now she’s announcing that she’s Uber’s new Chief Branding Officer.
“The beauty of a new role is sort of [my ability to] define it,” Saint John told Recode in an interview.
“My background is in marketing. That’s what I’m going to be focused on mostly. [But] I reserve the right to change it a little bit. The business is going to continue to grow and change and perhaps the needs for marketing and branding will change in six months.”
Her appointment is perfect timing for the company that was blasted during the #deleteuber campaign when Uber was blasted for allegedly attempting to profit from a protest against President Trump’s executive order banning refugees and immigrants.
Saint John previously served as the senior vice president of global marketing for Beats and the director of global and music entertainment at Pepsi.
