Maybe it’s his arrogance. Maybe it’s his incredible ability to create beef with other artists who seem to not even have him on their radar. Maybe it’s because his social media shenanigans always seem like cries for attention, but Bow Wow went from cherished child rapper to that dude that everyone loves to clown on social media. But the “Beware of the Dog” artist may soon be having the last laugh as VIBE reports Bow Wow recently shared he’s turning all of the social media teasing into money in the bank.
In an interview on DJ Drama’s Streetz Is Watching radio show, the 31-year-old whose real name is Shad Moss revealed that when it comes to the infamous #BowWowChallenge, he wants the fans to keep the jokes coming because he’s turning the viral hashtag into a television series. He urged fans to continue using the hashtag because he’ll need it for promotion:
“I need them to continue to do it because I have a show coming. It’s confirmed.”
If you’re not familiar with the hashtag, the #BowWowChallenge was birthed from social media comedians and super-sleuths who have caught the So So Def rapper in multiple lies. There was the time Bow Wow took to social media boasting about his travel plans on a private jet, and in no time fans quickly pulled up an identical stock photo catching him in what seemed to be an alternative fact. There was also the time Mr. Moss bragged about having in NYE party in his huge home, and social media was on the case only to come up with evidence that his “home” was actually So So Def studios. It’s incidents like these that sparked the #BowWowChallenge in which social media users post elaborate, but evident lies for laughs.
The Ohio-bred rapper also revealed that he didn’t even know about the viral hashtag unti his mother broke the news to him shortly after the “private jet” fiasco early last year:
“My mom hits me first. I was in New York doing press for Growing Up Hip Hop season one. ‘What the f**k did you do?’ I’m in the hotel watching the game. I’m chillin’. What are you talking about?”
Moss didn’t drop anymore details about the show, but did recently tweet that he turned a “f**k up into a million dollars” so maybe he’s learned to laugh at himself. The alternative is that his bark is bigger than his bite and he’s up to his old tricks again and his “show” is actually a commercial.
