Chance the Rapper has to put his pen to work, but not to write his next big single. The Chicago native has been chosen to deliver the commencement speech at Dillard University’s graduation in May.

The university’s president, Dr. Walter M. Kimbrough, has been pursuing Chance to come to campus for two years and he has finally succeeded. He describes the “No Problem” rapper as an artist “your grandmother would love” and is excited to have him address the 200 graduates.

“I thought he made for a great commencement speaker because of his spirit of being entrepreneurial and authentic,” Kimbrough told Page Six. “But his civic engagement, including encouraging people to vote and willingness to speak out on issues, like his recent opposition to a Heineken ad, are just as paramount.”

Kimbrough is referring to Chano’s work in his Chicago community. When he isn’t in the studio, the 24-year-old is raising money for Chicago’s public schools, working with his nonprofit SocialWorks, hosting open mics at Chicago’s Public Libraries or trying to stop the gun violence in his hometown. His last album, Coloring Book, was also the first streaming-only album to be nominated for a Grammy and to win.

Dillard’s graduation takes place on May 12th at 8:00 a.m.
