Hip-hop legend Q-Tip will be taking his talents to the college classroom. In the Fall 2018 semester, the A Tribe Called Quest founder will be teaching a course at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music about the connections between jazz and hip-hop.

“We’re thrilled to have Q-Tip join the faculty of The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music,” said Jason King, associate professor and director of Writing, History & Emergent Media Studies at the Clive Davis Institute in a statement. “He also has a natural instinct for teaching and cultivating excellence in students in terms of their focus on craft and expressive style. It’s going to be transformative to have him on board.”

Q-Tip is looking forward to sharing his knowledge with NYU students.

“I couldn’t be more excited to share with the students what I know and I look forward to them also teaching me,” he also said in a statement. “Teaching is an exchange of sharing and receiving for all involved.”

The announcement of his new gig comes after A Tribe Called Quest’s run has officially come to an end. Last month, ACTQ released a visual for “The Space Program,” their final single for their last album, We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service. This was their first album in 18 years. Unfortunately, group member Phife Dawg didn’t see its release as he passed away eight months before its November 2016 release from diabetes complications.
